Time and Talent

Volunteer with PCRC
Founded by volunteers in 1986, volunteers are essential to the success of PCRC.

We dedicate time to our volunteers, so you can develop valuable professional and personal skills while giving back to your communities. We recruit, train, and mentor volunteers to offer PCRC services throughout San Mateo County.

Before you submit an application, be sure you can:

  • Meet the basic requirements
  • Fulfill the duties outlined in the job description
  • Commit the time requested.

Volunteer Roles
PCRC may not be accepting new volunteers at the time you apply. We maintain manageable volunteer pools so there is adequate opportunity to give your time and talent. We will keep your application on file until we have space available.

Volunteer Opportunities

Mediator:
Guide parties through PCRC’s 4-step process as one member of a 2-3 person panel. Help people work through disputes, and turn their conflicts into opportunity.

Case Developer:
Be an empathetic ear! Help people understand the mediation process and how mediation may be an effective way to resolve their problems. Offer one on one coaching as clients decide if mediation is right for them.

Intake:
Provide a warm and friendly introduction to the mediation process and PCRC. Guide interested parties through the intake process, explain next steps and provide a warm handoff to one of our staff.

Facilitator:
Help people have more meaningful and inclusive conversations. As a neutral-third party, ensure all voices are heard and groups stay on track to get the most out of their meeting.

Trainer:
Help others gain the skills and tools you’re passionate about. Lead presentations, workshops, webinars throughout San Mateo County… or in your community among neighbors and friends.

Outreach & PCRC Ambassador:
Build relationships on behalf of PCRC to help us get our name out. Educate the community on all we have to offer at fairs, festivals, and private events just to name a few.

Office:
Help with special projects and events, answer phones, and be a welcoming face for clients and staff. Our office volunteers make PCRC run smoothly so we can better meet the needs of our community.

Intern:
We believe internships should be more than making copies and data entry. PCRC will work with you to design an internship experiences that is mutually beneficial. You will develop valuable professional experience and personal skills in a real-world setting. Internship opportunities are available for most programs and services. Contact us to find out more and design an internship that is right for you. Most internships are credit-bearing and unpaid.
